My Mission

"My mission is to help others find the amazing mind/body connection that Pilates provides through balanced muscle development, functional movement, core strengthening, flexibility, and awareness in order to support efficient, graceful and pain-free movement. My approach is to connect the mind, body and breath creating a synergistic “mindful core” to correct and maintain balance in the body."

Patti Mehl

Biography

Patti Mehl is a third generation Pilates instructor, comprehensively-trained 500+ hours through Balanced Body, while apprenticing for a Master Instructor in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has worked in the Valley teaching Pilates full-time for over fifteen years. She is now teaching one-on-one out of her home in the Arcadia area of Phoenix, and at Mountain Shadows Resort in Paradise Valley. Patti also takes on instructors-in-training as a mentor to guide them in their journey and complete their training hours for local teacher training programs.

Patti was introduced to Pilates in 2005 after years of debilitating back pain, stemming from scoliosis, fibromyalgia and a severe car accident at 18. She was on disability and treated for years with medication, steroid injections, nerve ablations, surgeries and finally a spinal fusion. Her physical therapist recommended Pilates for core strength as the orthopedic surgeon suggested that she would need more surgeries in the future. Within a year of taking Pilates she was off of all medications, monthly steroid injections and has not been back to the surgeon since. While she enjoying the benefits of Pilates that first year, she decided to become a Pilates Teacher instead returning to the tech industry.

She has focused her continuing education on restorative Pilates, working with special populations that include: pre and post-natal, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, spinal stenosis, hip replacements, shoulder and knee injuries, neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s and MS, and athletes recovering from injuries (post-physical therapy). She also taught Pilates in a Physical Therapy Office in Scottsdale, Arizona working with clients on the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Spine Corrector, both pre and post-surgery, under the direction of a physical therapist.

Her continuing education also includes Pilates for Athletes, Pilates for Golfers using both Classical and Contemporary Pilates training. She is passionate about leading her clients to ‘Return to Life’ through Pilates so they can have the energy and strength to enjoy their favorite activities throughout a long and pain-free life. Her goal is to complete her classical Pilates bridge certification, so that she will be dual certified in both Classical and Contemporary Pilates.

Patti is from Newport Beach, California and is the mom to four beautiful children.
